History
What started as a nationally touring metal-core band formed in 2008, dwindled down to just me in 2012.
Jon King and I were bandmates in a band, from 2004 - 2008, called Jonny Unite Us. He was the lead vocalist/lead guitarist, and I was the drummer/background vocalist. Some issues arose after SXSW in 2007. Jon and I both broke away from that band, and decided to start something heavier…thus, the creation of Dead For Serious. Jon would write all of the lyrics, and I would write all of the music. Jon wanted to solely be the lead vocalist, whereas I took the role of lead guitarist/background vocalist. Jon had a friend named Billy Simons that would be our drummer. Jon and I were both friends with Kyle Bowser, who wanted to be our rhythm guitarist. We cycled through bass players like changing guitar strings…very often. Hahaha, true story!
For several years we had an absolute blast touring all over, seeing new places, and meeting new friends…until it was time to grow up & become “responsible” adults. So we all made the decision to disband in late 2012, and went about our separate ways in life.
From then until now, I am still writing music that I feel needs to be heard. I decided to bring Dead For Serious back, as I still have so many unreleased songs that I feel people will appreciate.
For now, I will continue to write & release my music as a solo-artist until I find the right musicians to help me carry it further, or until I am no longer able to do it by myself. I can’t just quit my music. It’s a part of what makes me uniquely me!
Hi, I’m Bradford Murphy. I write all of the music & lyrics, play all of the instruments (lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, and drums), and do all of the vocals (singing, screaming/growling) by myself. Basically, I’m a one man band.
Music has been my passion since I was eight years old. Every song has a piece of my heart, soul, and life’s journey embedded in it. I thoroughly enjoy doing everything myself, as I’m somewhat of a perfectionist about my music. I want it to sound like how I hear it sounding in my head.
I hope people can listen to my music, and relate to it in some form or another. I want my music to be felt by the heart, and not just heard by the ears.
I have nothing except love to give everyone.
Stay healthy & stay happy.
God bless.
